Mad Monster
Murals – Painting/Drawing –
Group Activity - Students work in small groups to
invent their very own crazy monster, using paints,
charcoal, and pastels. This is a busy, fun activity
allowing students to work on a large scale, work as
a team, and use a variety of media. Children will
be examining pattern and colour. End results are always
impressive, and are great for bright displays in the
classroom.
Shape Colour Pattern
– Printmaking – Looking
at pattern, line, colour and shape, students design
and make their own stencil, and are then shown how
to print and mount their designs. Children learn the
basics of Printmaking, while using new and fun resources.
Results are vibrant and colourful.
Funky Flying Fish –
Sculpture – Students learn the basics of working
with 3D media to create a funky hanging sculpture.
Great for improving fine-motor skills, and problem-solving
skills. Students will love their 3D fish sculptures.

Incredible Insects –
Painting/Drawing – a step by step drawing and
painting activity, with students learning about shape,
colour and pattern, while creating their very own
awesome insect masterpiece. A fun and creative way
for children to learn about insects! NEW
Sky Printing
– Printmaking – using printing foam, students
will be learning a new process, and working with a
new medium. Using the ‘sky’ as creative
inspiration, students will learn the basics of printmaking
and design, and will be mounting their Sky Prints
into a creative art piece. NEW

Year 1-2
Wonderful
Weaving ’07 – Sculpture/Textiles
– New and Improved – This is one of RAW
Arts most popular activities, and has been part of
our program for 10 years. This year we are changing
the idea/design to make the results even more exciting!
This is a fantastic textiles/sculpture activity exploring
a variety of 3D media. Students work at creating a
fun and colourful hanging sculpture, while exploring
the principals of symmetry, construction and tactile
media.
Tribal Masks – Ceramics/Sculpture
– Looking at various masks from different cultures,
and their use of pattern and shape, students will
work at creating their very own groovy tribal mask.
Using clay to model and construct their mask, children
will learn about the properties of clay, and also
about sculpture, pattern, symmetry and assemblage.
This is a fantastic tactile activity, with a problem
solving focus.
Fantastic Fairytales
– Painting/Drawing/Collage –
Students will be working to create magical Fairy Tale
artwork. Looking at various images from popular fairytales,
students use a range of painting, drawing and collage
media to create their own princesses, witches, dragons,
castles and forests. NEW
Creative Collagraphs
– Printmaking – students
will be using a range of media to make their own collagraph
printing block. A great activity to learn about texture,
design, and the basics of Printmaking. Students will
be shown how to make prints with their collagraphs,
and then how to mount their designs into interesting
creative masterpieces. NEW
Lively Lizards –
Mixed Media – Group Activity – using ‘lizards’
as our theme, students will be working in small groups
to create a large scale mixed-media reptile. We will
be examining drawing, painting, collage, pattern,
shape, line, and will be using an assortment of 2D
and 3D media. Students will love their groovy lizard
art! NEW

Year 3-4
Picasso
Heads – Painting/Picasso Heads
– Painting/Drawing - Another of RAW Arts most
popular art activities. We have been conducting this
lesson in schools for 7 years, and it always achieves
excellent results. Students enjoy learning about the
vibrant work of Pablo Picasso. Using his images as
inspiration, children create their own masterpieces
of bold, crazy Picasso portraits. A range of drawing
and painting media will be used.
Puzzle Patterns –
Photography – Using photographic paper and chemicals,
students learn how to make chemograms, using different
techniques to create different effects. They use dyes
on the chemograms to create bold colours, and are
then guided through a mounting process to complete
a ‘puzzle pattern’ design using the chemograms
and a range of 2D media. Students learn an awesome
new process, and make an exciting work of art!
Looking @ Surrealism
– illustration/water colour
painting – New and Improved – Looking
at various Surrealist images, and discussing ‘dreamscapes’
students will learn how to draw an idea in an illustrative
manner, and will be using a range of drawing and painting
media including watercolour paints. Students’
imaginations will run wild in this fun activity. Children
will be turning inventive, fun, quirky ideas into
little masterpieces!! NEW
Mixed Media Madness
– mixed media – This is
a fun drawing/ collage activity with a varied range
of unique creative outcomes. Students are taken through
a step by step lesson, using a range of 2D and collage
media, learning about abstraction and colour theory.

ID Print Blocks –
Printmaking – using their names as creative
inspiration, students design an interesting and detailed
ID print block using Printing Foam. Students learn
how to use a new media, while exploring the principals
of both design and printmaking. Students will also
be printing onto a variety of surfaces to create interesting
effects. A fun lesson, with excellent results. NEW
Winged Things –
Ceramics/Sculpture - A fun 3D activity with students
learning about ceramics, sculpture, modelling and
construction. Students learn about the properties
of clay, and are taken through a step by step lesson
to construct a pair of mini-winged-creatures. Results
are funky, and the process is fun fun fun! NEW

Year 5-6
White
Lino Designs
– Printmaking – A great
new medium for students to learn about printmaking,
without the safety concerns of using sharp lino tools.
Students are taken through a discussion on design,
looking at the work of various printmaking artists.
Students are shown how to etch their detailed designs,
and how to achieve excellent printmaking results
Awesome Insect Sculpture
– 3D Sculpture – individual
or group activity– Working with cane, wire,
cardboard and a variety of collage decorative media,
students will follow a step by step lesson, working
either individually or as a team to create an insect
critter. Students learn about insects, and also about
sculpture, construction and assemblage. This is a
problem solving activity, with results sure to impress.

Surprise Plates –
Ceramics/Sculpture – the return of an old RAW
Art favourite. This activity allows students to use
their imagination to create a ‘surreal’
sculpture. Students work with clay to make a plate,
and then use their creativity to construct a unique
sculpture which will rest on their ‘surprise
plate’. A fun and imaginative activity with
a sculptural focus. NEW
Funky Bowls –
Ceramics/Pottery – this is a great activity
using clay in a range of ways to make a functional
ceramic piece. Students learn about coiling, making
slabs, and modeling clay in various ways, to then
use and shape into a mould to make a pot design. Results
are always surprising and impressive. NEW
Street Tribe Poster
– Drawing/Painting – Group
Activity – this is an excellent group activity
concentrating on drawing, with a focus on line and
colour. Looking at ‘street art’ and ‘graffiti’
as inspiration, groups will be producing their own
funky street designs. Using charcoal, pastels and
paints students will be learning about working as
a team, and also about repetition, contrast and composition.

Book Art –
Mixed Media - using paper and cardboard, students
will learn how to create and make their own book.
This will then be used as a base for students to create
text, or a story which they can then represent via
an assortment of media – drawing, painting,
printing, collage. Works will be of a small scale,
with a creative story to tell! NEW
